Council to resume bulky waste collections

Having been suspended as part of the initial response to the Coronavirus health emergency, a review has led to the service being re-instated with demand likely to be high.

As a result, from 9.00am this Friday (May15th, 2020), residents can book bulky waste collections online as usual. Bookings can be made using this link www.npt.gov.uk/bulksonline . On Friday, when the bookings link goes live, residents will be able to make bookings for up to two weeks in advance.

The types of items the Council will collect include: furniture, televisions and large electrical goods, carpets and white goods including washing machines and fridges.

The types of items the Council will not collect include boilers, gas bottles, oil tanks, pianos, general bags of refuse, garden waste, asbestos, hazardous household waste, wall/floor tiles, tins of paint, trade waste and broken glass (see this page on the council’s website for more details: www.npt.gov.uk/bulks .

Social distancing between residents and the team collecting the waste must be maintained. Residents should not book a collection if a member of the household is or has been displaying symptoms of Coronavirus within seven days prior to booking the service or is self-isolating due to close contact with someone suspected of having Covid-19.

Residents are requested to place items at the kerbside the night before or morning of the scheduled collection day.

Plans for the safe re-opening of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs¬) in the County Borough are also under way and an update will be published soon.
